Instructions for Authors:

  • Click HERE for the Abstract Submission Form.
  • Abstract submission deadline is Sunday, March 8, 2026 at 11:59 pm; no revisions or submissions will be accepted after the deadline.
  • Before submission, the first author must ensure that all co-authors are aware of the abstract's content and the Faculty Mentor/Principal Investigator (PI) has approved the abstract.
  • The submitting author must be the first author. First authors are allowed to submit one abstract, however, can be listed as a co-author on additional abstracts.
  • Abstracts submitted should incorporate unpublished data.
  • IRB and IACUC determinations are required for projects involving human subjects or animal research, respectively; abstracts will not be considered without appropriate regulatory approval.
  • Patient consent is required for case reports/series through direct written, witnessed verbal, or institutional consent processes; abstracts will not be considered without appropriate patient consent.   
  • After submission, the first author will receive an automated confirmation e-mail that contains a link to the submitted abstract. Abstract revisions can be made before the submission deadline.
  • All first authors will be notified of abstract selection, and authors of accepted abstracts will receive information for preparing their poster or oral presentation.  
  • With permission from the first author and Faculty Mentor/PI abstracts accepted for poster or oral presentations are eligible to have the title, authors’ names, and affiliations featured on our Research Day website as well as the full abstract published within a Special Issue of the peer-reviewed, PubMed-indexed Spartan Medical Research Journal (SMRJ) following Research Day. Please be prepared to consent or decline these opportunities within the submission form.
Abstract Format:
  • Abstract Categories: Basic Science, Clinical Research, Medical Education, Quality Improvement, Case Report/Series.
  • Abstract text: 350 words maximum, excluding Title, Authors, and Affiliations. References are not required as their inclusion affects word count.
  • Abstracts must contain the following sections' headings:

Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Medical Education should include Introduction/Background, Objectives/Hypothesis, Methods, Results, and Discussion/Conclusions sections

 

Quality Improvement projects should include Introduction/Background, Aims/Objectives, Methods, Results, and Discussion/Conclusions sections

 
Case Reports and Series should include Introduction, Case Description and Discussion/Conclusions sections
